“We need to move faster,” said Belek.
Behind them, the storm was still building. The temperature was rising and the wind was picking up dramatically. The damaged sky was now the colour of a deep, dark bruise, making it harder and harder to see in the dying light.
To Amaia, it seemed like the trees were twisting into towering, wavering apparitions whose grasping tendrils tirelessly grabbed your every move. Maybe they were.
“I don't remember this. I don't remember any of it. Is this the way we came? I don't think it is...” she mumbled, shaking as she walked.
“It's okay,” Belek soothed. “Just keep moving. WHERE are YOU going?” he suddenly boomed.
Esther stopped in surprise and looked back in innocence “Um, the navicom says the best-”
“No time for that,” said Belek. “Just keep heading south. Actually…” Belek shook off the massive camping bag and dumped it carelessly on the ground before stepping away. “This way.”
“But don't we need our gear?” said Jahan, looking forlornly at the discarded equipment.
“From now on, only one thing matters,” said Belek. “Speed. Let's go.”
